Today we decided to venture out to Okotoks and check out a couple new cafes that we had been eyeing. The first we stopped at was French 50 Bakery. We did ask how they came up with the name of the shop. They said they were going to have a French bakery and the one owner said he was 50 years old so, French 50 Bakery was born. A unique name for a unique little place.

The Interior

This bakery is in an old house that has been converted into a bakery. It is a small location with only seven tables and their outdoor patio has a couple tables. When we arrived you could smell the fresh baked items throughout, it was amazing. It was also very busy when we arrived, but we were able to get a table as soon as we ordered.

The Drinks

From our friends at Devil’s Head Coffee, we had heard about two young fourteen year old boys making the coffee and was excited to see what they could do. After looking over the menu we decided on a couple beverages, we were also excited to see that they used Devils Head Coffee.

My daughter and I ordered Latte’s for $4.50 each and they were very good. I even made the comment that it tasted just like the one that Mia made me from Devils Head the week before.

My wife ordered a London Fog for $4.50 and it was delicious. They used simple syrup instead of Vanilla or Lavender which we thought was really nice.

The prices of all their beverages I felt were quite reasonable.

The Service

Everyone was very friendly and nice, we talked with the friends of the owners who were helping out and asked some questions, which they were quick to answer. They were very friendly.

The Hours

Monday to Friday – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Saturday to Sunday – 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

Parking

Since they are located just off the main street there was quite a bit of parking.

Last Words

I suspect this shop will do well as they are in a neighborhood that is walkable. Hours are long and will accommodate lots of people. I hope everybody goes and checks out this truly unique space. I want to go back and check it out on a weekend and see how the vibe is.
