Narwhal’s

While in Squamish we had to check out this little ice cream trailer off the highway by the river. If you were not looking for this little trailer you would not be able to find it since you have to go down on a side road without knowing about it.

The Location

This little trailer is located off the highway in a parking lot right next to the river which was very pretty. Being able to sit at the picnic table and watch the water stroll by us. I would say that his is one of the best ice cream locations that we have ever visited.

The Ice Cream

After looking at their flavours and sampling a couple, we decided to each get two scoops so we can try more this way.

I ordered the Maple Bacon and Salted Caramel for $7.50 which was really good. The Maple Bacon was excellent with chunks of chocolate covered bacon. The Salted Caramel has really good flavour with a smooth caramel texture.

My wife ordered the Blueberry Goat Cheese and Chocolate Macaron for $7.50 which was delicious. The Blueberry Goat Cheese had great flavour with the smoothness from the goat cheese. The Chocolate Macaron was vegan and had a really smooth chocolate taste.

My daughter ordered the Mint Chip and Cookies and Cream for $7.50 which was amazing. The Mint Chip was the best she had ever had, it had little pieces of mint inside the ice cream. The Cookies and Cream was very creamy and had chunks of chocolate and cookies.

The Service

The girl working was very friendly and we asked some questions and she was willing to answer. Overall she was amazing.

The Hours

Parking

Since they are parked in a parking lot there is limited parking but more out a little further if you don’t mind walking a little.

Last Words

We would definitely head back to try more of their amazing ice cream in times to come. Even if we are driving through Squamish we would stop here again for sure. My daughter wants more of the Mint Chip for sure.

Lil Chef

While in Squamish we had to find a place to get some food and my wife came across this place while we were driving around. So we decided to check it out. It was located off the beaten path which was nice. It was a nice location with a very busy patio, and we found out that everything on the menu is made from scratch.

The Food

After reviewing the menu multiple times we had to really figure out what we wanted to get. Trust me it was really hard to choose something.

To start off we got the 3 cabbage rolls for $7.50 and they were an all pork, wrapped in pickled cabbage. They were really good, it was a great starter and it was a sample of their style of cooking.

I ordered the Burger with Potato Salad for $18.50, the burger was very light and it was on an english muffin style bun. It was clean, crisp and the potato salad was flavoured with dill which was different but delicious. This was a very refreshing meal for sure.

My daughter ordered the Eggs Benny with Bacon and Cornmeal for $18, she found the cornmeal a little fatty, but the bacon was perfectly smokey and delicious. The eggs were perfect and the english muffin had a great texture.

The Service

The staff were very friendly and it seemed really busy while we were there. By the time we left it was very very busy, it was great being able to eat homemade food while on this trip.

The Ledge

Since my son was busy today we decided to drive out to Squamish to check out the coffee scene. Our first stop in Squamish was at The Ledge, a cafe located downtown on Cleveland. It had a great vibe and it seemed like they were very busy, they had a steady stream of customers which was great to see.

The Interior

We only went in to order our drinks, they have the cafe located in the front and in the back there is a performance space. We sat on the front patio so we could people watch and see where else we should check out. Everyone there said hello and it was a super friendly place.

The Drinks

After looking over their menu and asking a couple different questions about a couple of the drinks we decided on a couple.

Both my daughter and I ordered the Latte for $4 and $4.50, they were really good, a little sweet, but really good. They use Bow & Arrows coffee for their caffeinated drinks.

My wife ordered the London Fog for $4, my wife said it was really good. They use tea from Luca’s Tea across the street. So we had to head over there after this.

The staff were friendly and it was really great sitting on the patio watching everyone walking by.

The Hours

There was parking all along the street, if there wasn’t parking there, you could park a block back. Their main street was not crazy big either.

We would definitely stop here again when we come to Squamish. Plus we headed over to get tea after our visit and bought a bunch so we will have to head back to get more in the future.

Winston

While we were over in North Vancouver we decided to head over to a cute little cafe called Winston. Why we decided to go there was we used to have a little Bichon ShiZhu named Winston and we had to head there. We asked why they named the cafe Winston and they said it was after a dog as well. What a coincidence.

The Interior

This cafe is quite small with only a couple tables and a huge family style table. The menu located behind the bar was written on paper on a chalkboard which was really cool. The cafe was very bright and had very high ceilings which was really beautiful.

House of Funk

Lets start by saying this is quite a drive from where we were staying, this cafe/bar was located all the way in North Vancouver. The outside of the bar was really cool, it had a huge covered patio area with really big garage doors. Inside there is a big area that the beer is made and then there is a bunch of tables to sit and enjoy the coffee or beer.

The Drinks

After looking over all the drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic we thought we should try some different things.

Both my daughter and I ordered and Iced Latte for $4.70, they were very refreshing with nice flavour. It was made with their technicolour beans which was delicious.

My wife had a flight of beer that had 4 different kinds of their common beer. Then my daughter also had a 4oz Funk Juice for $3. They both really enjoyed this one, it tasted a little like Buch and it had a great flavour.

The Service

The staff were friendly but because the bar was really busy I felt like we didn’t get the best service. They kept seating people on the patio and the server that was out there didn’t give the best service, it took forever to get our receipt to pay.

This time we decided to final head to Earnest Ice Cream (Quebec St.) and try what everyone has been telling us to try. Waiting in line there is a stop sign where once it turns green you are allowed to go in. The line was not as bad when we got there, but when we left it was really long. We were looking at the menu before we even entered so that we could order and then leave.

The Interior

There is seating on one end and then near the exit is where the ice cream is all located. They have the menu located behind where they serve you, you can see all the flavours that are around all the time and then the seasonal. It was very hard to decide what to try for sure.

Las Margaritas

This location that we visited is located on West 4th, which is a pretty happening location due to all the little shops and cafes. Whenever you drive past this restaurant it is always busy and lined up. Thankfully tonight when we went it was busy but we only waited five minutes to get in. Since we were in Vancouver we decided to take my son and his roommate out for dinner.

The Interior

We walked through the interior to get out onto the patio. The interior is all decorated in Mexican colours and decorations, if I didn’t know any better I would have thought I was in Mexico. The patio was very nice with a bunch of tables under beautiful big Chestnut trees. It was beautiful sitting outside for sure.

Coho Cafe

This cafe was located in the warehouse district and it didn’t look like a cafe from the outside for sure. This was on a list of highly reviewed locations so we knew we had to check it out.

The Interior

The space was little but very bright inns. There were only a few tables with a huge kitchen. We later found out that there are multiple businesses that work out of that kitchen which is really cool. We soon found out after my daughter started flipping through a book that we were not allowed to touch the books. It was a really chill atmosphere for sure.

I ordered a latte for $4.25 which was really good. It was light and refreshing for sure. I could still taste the coffee which was amazing.

My wife ordered the London Fog for $4.75 and she said it was good. Unfortunately it was a little weak due to the tea that they use.

My daughter had a Dream Tea Lemonade for $5 and it was really tasty, it was really good and pretty. It was made with the peaberry flower so that is why it was the beautiful colour.

The Food

I ordered a Pork Belly Sandwich for $12 and it was really good. It was perfectly cooked pork belly on the fresh bun. It was delicious for sure.

My wife ordered the Avocado Toast for $10 which she said was really good. The combination of feta and guacamole were delicious. The radishes that were on top had a great peppery flavour which added to the toast.
