Please Sir, I Want S’More

“What the world needs now is S’more of the good stuff. S’more laughter with friends, S’more songs around the campfire and S’more delicious nostalgic flavours in our classic award winning hot chocolate. A hand-crafted pillowy marshmallow, sitting atop our smooth and creamy dark hot chocolate, staked high with our famous Oatmeal cookie, and a kiss of rich dark chocolate. So good you’ll want S’more.”

Price: 8oz – $5.00, 12oz – $5.50

First I have to say that I absolutely love that it is a homemade marshmallow and a homemade cookie, it really elevates the drink to the next level for sure. This drink has an amazing chocolate flavour and once you enjoy the cookie, as you sip the drink you get a little bit of marshmallow in every sip because of how it slowly melts into the drink. This is a very good drink, I do wish that it was hotter temperature wise because it didn’t stay hot very long. Also I wish that they would have added some graham cracker flavour to something to really bring in the S’more flavour that much more.

Overall if you are okay to drive all the way, then I would definitely go and try this drink for sure.

Bike and Brew

Twisted Twix Hot Chocolate

“Elevate your taste buds with our Twisted Twix Hot Chocolate! Made with and creamy chocolate sauce, caramel syrup and the milk of your choice. But wait there’s more! Topped with hand crafted whip cream, caramel drizzle, shortbread cookie crumbs and twix bits.”

Price: $6.75

Let me start by saying that they do not use hand crafted whip, unless that is what canned whip is called now. I have said this many times in the past that it is soooo much better when handmade whip is used. Also I had a big Twix on top with no twix bits, I prefer the big Twix over little pieces.

Other than the whip not being hand crafted, I was not given the choice to change my milk, either way the drink did taste really good. It tasted like a Twix through and through. The last bit of the drink was really sweet and had some chunks of the shortbread that was hard to swallow.

Bike and Brew has always had creative drinks and I was excited to try this one and besides the whip not being homemade I would say that this is a really great hot chocolate. If you love Twix as much as I do, then ride your bike down and try this hot chocolate.

Neighbour Coffee

Campfire Hot Chocolate

“The perfect hot chocolate ignites warmth and connection. Our campfire hot chocolate is inspired by the rich smell of burning firewood and the sticky sweetness of perfectly roasted marshmallows. Pairs perfectly on an outdoor patio with friends.”

Price: $7.00

The first thing you get from this hot chocolate is the smell of the burning wood, it really brings me back to sitting around campfires when I was younger.

This is not an overly sweet hot chocolate like the description says it is and honestly I feel like it is lacking a little chocolate flavour as well. As I drank this hot chocolate I got some sips with what tasted like smoke and others not so much, I am unsure if they used liquid smoke in this drink, but that is the flavour I get and it is very overpowering. I wish it was a little sweeter and maybe that would have toned down whatever I was tasting.

I also wish that they would have used a homemade marshmallow instead of a store bought, it would have really elevated the drink to the next level for sure. Also I think the addition of whip in either a chocolate or a graham flavour would have been a delicious extra touch. Or if there is smoke in the drink, take that out and infused smoke with the whip to add that smokey flavour.

Monogram Coffee

Sesame Oat Hot Chocolate

“Dark chocolate laced with creamy sesame, cinnamon, vanilla and caramelized honey, steamed with oat milk and then topped with a toasted Made by Marcus marshmallow.”

Price: $7.00

This hot chocolate was very good, love the oat milk, since it really adds creaminess to the drink. The marshmallow has great flavour and when it starts to melt into the drink you get a little with every sip. With the addition of sesame you get a little nuttiness which is delicious with the creaminess of the oat milk.

This is a very delicious hot chocolate, just like their Bergamont Honey Hot Chocolate that they did last year. Well done Monogram, well done!

Caramello Tartlette

“Dulce de leche steamed with warm milk topped with a whipping cream and dulce filled tartlet.”

Price: $5.50

This hot chocolate has a very good caramel taste and is throughout the hot chocolate for sure. The tart that comes with the hot chocolate is absolutely delicious and I really wish that I would have bought a second one. It pairs with the hot chocolate so perfectly.

I am very happy that this hot chocolate was not overly caramel because sometimes then it can have a weird taste for sure.  The only comment I would have is that I wished that the whipped cream had a flavour, maybe caramel or a toffee flavour to pair with the caramel. Other than that the drink was delicious.

Brekkie

Pina Colada

“Spend the month of February in the tropics with us! Sip on our pineapple, coconut, white hot chocolate. Garnished with whipped cream, dehydrated pineapple, maraschino cherry and a little umbrella.”

Price: $9.00

Where do I begin with this hot chocolate. Amazing! Outstanding! Fruity! Delicious! Oh My! Just overall an outstanding delicious drink for sure. I definitely feel like I am sitting on a beach somewhere drinking a pina colada. Chef Martina you did a great job being able to combine such difficult flavours and make it something really amazing.

You get the pineapple, the coconut, and a hint of the white chocolate, I cannot believe that someone successfully made a pina colada in hot chocolate form. As it cools you get more coconut which is amazing.

All I have to say, if you want to be lounging on a beach somewhere make sure you head to Brekkie and try this amazing hot chocolate before they are gone. You will not be disappointed. Just wow!

Light Cellar

Into the Woods

“Immerse yourself with the winter flavours of Balsam Fir and mint with our decadent hot chocolate. This forest inspired drink will definitely remind you of nature’s delightful flavours.”

Price: $7.00

This drink sounded like it was going to taste amazing and honestly it did for one of us and the other didn’t really enjoy it. One of us really got the balsam fir essential oil where the other didn’t get much. It has a very strong chocolate taste for sure. One thing that both of us could agree on was, this is one of the healthiest hot chocolates we have ever had. If you would like to try something unique, then I would head to Light Cellar and try this hot chocolate.

*Disclaimer: one of us ended up having a small allergic reaction so make sure that you have a little sip to see if you have a reaction to anything before finishing this drink fully. Upon reading about the balsam fir essential oil, most people do have reactions to this oil and we read that it shouldn’t be ingested. So please be aware of what is in this drink before you go and try this one.*

Higher Ground

The Neapolitan

“If you love Neapolitan Ice Cream as much as we do, this is the hot chocolate for you! Hints of strawberries, chocolate milk, and intense vanilla Topped with whip cream and house baked crushed Neapolitan cookies.”

Price: Small $6.25, Medium $6.75, Large $6.95

We were very surprised at how delicious this hot chocolate was, you could taste all the flavours of Neapolitan. The steamed chocolate milk mixed with strawberry and vanilla syrup really was the perfect combination. The whip didn’t seem to have any flavour and it really didn’t seem to break down in the drink at all. It was topped with a delicious Neapolitan cookie and it was absolutely delicious.

Overall this drink was delicious and a hundred times better than the lavender one last year. Well done Higher Ground!

Fools Gold

“Step aside Fry’s cocoa, there’s GOLD in ‘dem hills! This thick and creamy ganache based drink with salted caramel tastes so rich that we just had to top it with gold. Each drink is made with dark chocolate ganache by Pretty Sweet, infused with salted caramel, and topped with edible gold glitter.”

Price: $6.50

This is a very chocolatey and creamy hot chocolate, you get a huge burst of chocolate from the ganache. The salted caramel drizzle was absolutely delicious and a great addition to the ganache. There was edible gold glitter on the top that seemed to get all over your lips with every sip that you took.

It is a very creamy hot chocolate with very good flavor and we would suggest that you try this one if you are down around Inglewood.
